Some statements made about me by men I’ve dated:

I am more interesting than you.

You are 32? Why aren’t you married? What’s wrong with you?

You know what you are? You are a butter-face. You are hard to look at.

When you are skinny you look like you are 24. When you gain 10 pounds, you look like an attractive mom. (said when I was 40)

I was never committed to you. You seemed desperate to help me through chemo so I let you.

You are imperfect perfect (said by two different men, the same phrase used a decade apart to describe me physically).

The best way to describe you is that you are like the perfect dream girl, except that you are really a serial killer.

I said you were the love of my life but I didn’t really mean it. (When also retracting referring to me as his soulmate and twin flame).

You look very ordinary, whereas when I walk into a room, people’s heads turn.

You are a damaged animal beyond repair.

You look like you are desperate for attention when you wear yoga pants (when headed to a yoga class).

I loved you, even when you were fat (I had gained and lost only 10 lbs of water weight due to taking medication for my heart condition monthts before).

You walk awkwardly, like you are in a runner’s pose (said when I showed up to an event wearing a stunning red dress that stood out).

I really don’t have time for you

I don’t want you.

I look forward to being with someone else in the future

You should kill yourself
