About Disposable Objects

Disposable Objects is a collection of stories about people who I find fascinating, daring, courageous, desperate and brave. Through these narratives, my aim is to demonstrate the tremendous value that each one of us has, and hopefully challenge and change perspectives and behaviors towards those society and individuals often dispose of.

Many of these stories are gleaned from encounters during my travels. Over a three-year period spanning 14 countries during the COVID era, I met remarkable individuals who shared their experiences of feeling undervalued—by themselves, by others, or by society at large. Other stories are closer to my home in NYC. And some are my own.

All the stories are told through a specific lens: one that seeks to reveal the value in overlooked experiences, challenge assumptions, and illuminate the depth of human resilience. The openness of those I met gifted me with profound lessons and insights, deepening my belief in the power of humanity, love, and truth.

This collection shares fragments of human stories of people who may have at times experienced challenging times but ultimately to shine a light on what a treasure they are — to me — and to anyone who has the capacity to see.
